Lafayette Crosses: Attack of the Wingnuts
I find it intriguing that a couple of the wingnut bloggers have picked up the story about the Lafayette Crosses. You can check out the rantings of Atlas Shrugged and the much more detailed presentation from zombietime.

It boggles the mind how anyone would consider this to be "liberal propaganda." Oh, yeah. I looked. Atlas Shrugged is an idiot. In a country at war that has not asked the civilian population to sacrifice ONE THING - meaning rationing, conserving, asking us to invest in war bonds, tax the wealthiest among us, etc (instead of what we have which is the Paris Hilton Protection Act and more and more debt with China)people put bumper stickers on their cars without finding out where the money they paid for that sticker actually goes - and then cry "liberal propaganda!" when anyone actually does anything that IS an actual show of support for the troops. So the president wants our dead soldiers brought home in the dead of night so no one sees. Just because HE can't take it does not mean we don't get to honour traditions that go back far beyond his presidency.
